Congress today said that all political parties, barring the BJP, want a stop to the lynching incidents and accused the ruling party of trying to gain "political mileage" out of the issue.
Congress member K C Venugopal also accused the government of trying to "justify" such incidents, while referring to the debate on the issue in the Lok Sabha yesterday.
Participating in a discussion on the Supplementary Demands for Grants 2017-18 in the Lok Sabha, Venugopal said "the Prime Minister twice said it is condemnable... I heard speeches of all leaders. Except BJP, everybody said lynching should stop.
"The Minister was justifying it. They are trying to take political mileage out of the discussion".
He said when a RSS worker was killed in Kerala last week, the Union Home Minister and the Governor called up the Chief Minister.
"If the Governors had called the Chief Ministers (of all those states) where lynching happened, we could have saved so many lives," Venugopal said.
He said while the RSS worker's death was "unfortunate", similarly the value of the lives of every common man is important.
