Hooda said that during the tenure of the previous Congress government, a number of power plants had been set up including the Jharli project in Jhajjar district, which was inaugurated by Congress President and then UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi over seven years back.
Talking to reporters at Kurukshetra on the sidelines of Congress' Dalit convention today, Hooda claimed the state government had written to the NTPC that it had surplus electricity and it didn't have a need of their share of electricity from the Jharli power plant.
"They are trying to show that power has become surplus in Haryana whereas the reality is that there is acute shortage faced by the people," said the former Chief Minister.
Earlier, Hooda hit out at the Manohar Lal Khattar government for allegedly failing on all fronts.
