Govt, USIBC hold discussions on promoting filming in India

Top officials of the Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry here today held discussions with the delegation of a Indo-US business body, seeking to promote India as a filming destination and find collaborative avenues related to anti-piracy.
The US-India Business Council (USIBC) delegation, led by Joe Welch, Senior Vice President, 21st Century Fox was also given an overview by Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka of the growth of the industry in critical areas of the media and entertainment sector.
The discussions focussed on that sector in India and the steps being taken by the government to promote 'Make in India' across the different platforms in different sectors, a statement released here said.
Julka emphasised on the government's efforts to make India a 'film shooting destination' and about efforts to set up a 'Film Facilitation Unit' to promote the concept of 'single-window clearance'.
The discussions also focussed on the possible collaborative avenues related to anti-piracy.
Julka emphasised on the role of the Ministry in disseminating the schemes of the government across media platforms in an effort to sensitise the masses, the statement said.
