Union minister D V Sadananda Gowda today assured that he will consider Jharkhand's demand for more trains in the next rail budget as the Railways earn a lot of freight revenue from the state.
"Jharkhand gives more revenue to the railways. It is the responsibility of the railways to give more (trains) to Jharkhand," Railway minister Gowda told reporters here.
Stating that he has received several requests from the people for new trains, Gowda said he would certainly consider it in his next budget.
However, he said that Jharkhand government should also step forward to help railways implement projects underlined for the state, help in acquiring land, environmental clearances and its share of funds for the projects.
".... I will not politicise the development concept... there are several land acquisition problems, forest clearances and cost sharing (in the state)," he said.
Gowda said he met Chief Minister Hemant Soren and suggested that both the state officials and railway officials could solve problems hindering the projects.
Jharkhand received 20 per cent more funds this fiscal compared to the previous financial year, he said.
