GP Petroleums today said it has launched the lubricant business of Spanish oil company Repsol in the country.
GP Petroleums is a subsidiary of UAE-based oil major Gulf Petrochem Group.
Last year, GP Petroleums and Repsol had entered into a strategic partnership under which the former has the exclusive right to manufacture and market Repsol's line of lubricants across India.
The new partnership will focus on the automotive lubricant market, including the competitive two-wheeler segment. It will also work towards garnering a significant market share in passenger cars and heavy duty segment in the coming few years, a GP Petroleums statement said today.
"Partnering with GP Petroleums, a brand with strong presence in the Indian lubricant market, has given us a firsthand advantage in this sector.
"With our strengths together, we extend our capabilities to globally distribute a wider variety of products," said Carlos Pascual, Repsol's international manager, lubricants - Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia Pacific.
