The case relates to the period between 2006 and 2009 when Mishra, now a Special Secretary in the Union Home Ministry, was CMD of the State Police Housing and Welfare Corporation, a senior vigilance officer said today.
"A case has been lodged against him (Mishra) under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC in connection with certain advance amounts given to cement and steel suppliers during his tenure as CMD of the corporation," Vigilance Director K B Singh said.
The former DGP had allegedly made advance payments to suppliers and companies to the tune of Rs 59 crore misusing his official position and manipulating records, Singh said.
The amount given as advances does not tally with the material supplied to the corporation and around Rs five crore remains to be recovered, he said.
Mishra was the DGP from June 2012 to July 2014 when the incumbent Sanjeev Marik replaced him. Mishra subsequently moved to the Union Home Ministry.
