The wholesale grains market ended on a mixed note today with wheat and bajra drifting due to reduced offtake and barley and maize rising on the back of pick up in demand from consuming industries.
Traders said reduced offtake by flour mills against adequate stocks position mainly kept pressure on wheat prices.
They said, however, pick up in demand from consuming industries against limited arrivals from producing regions pushed up barley and maize prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) eased by Rs 5 to Rs 1,690-1,695 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and weakened by a similar margin to Rs 1,700-1,705 per 90 kg.
Other bold grains like bajra fell by Rs 50 to Rs 1,210-1,215 per quintal. Jowar yellow and white also eased by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,550-1,650 and Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal respectively.
On the other hand, barley and maize moved up by Rs 15 and Rs 40 to Rs 1,350-1,355 and Rs 1,470-1,475 per quintal respectively.
