Other pulses such as arhar, moong and masoor also recorded rise in their prices.
Traders attributed the sharp rise in gram and a few other pulses to speculative buying activity amid fall in supplies.
In the national capital, gram rallied to Rs 9,600-9,800 from previous level of Rs 9,000-9,250 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded higher by Rs 400 each to Rs 9,800-10,000 and Rs 10,100-10,200 per quintal, respectively.
Arhar also climbed to Rs 7,500 from previous level of Rs 7,150 per quintal. Its dal dara variety traded higher by Rs 200 to Rs 9,700-11,400 per quintal.

In line with overall trend, moong and its dal chilka local spurted by Rs 300 each to Rs 4,800-5,500 and Rs 5,300-5,700 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 5,900-6,400 and Rs 6,400-6,600 per quintal.
Masoor small and bold too ended higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,700-5,900 and Rs 5,750-5,950 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 6,150-6,650 and Rs 6,250-6,750 per quintal.
