Gram climbs Rs 600 per quintal on speculative buying

A steep rise of Rs 600 per quintal in gram prices on speculative buying by stockists was seen at the wholesale pulses market today.
Other pulses such as arhar, moong and masoor also recorded rise in their prices.
Traders attributed the sharp rise in gram and a few other pulses to speculative buying activity amid fall in supplies.
In the national capital, gram rallied to Rs 9,600-9,800 from previous level of Rs 9,000-9,250 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded higher by Rs 400 each to Rs 9,800-10,000 and Rs 10,100-10,200 per quintal, respectively.
Arhar also climbed to Rs 7,500 from previous level of Rs 7,150 per quintal. Its dal dara variety traded higher by Rs 200 to Rs 9,700-11,400 per quintal.
Rajmah chitra too surged by Rs 500 to Rs 6,000-6,950, while moth edged up by Rs 200 to Rs 4,000-4,300 per quintal.

In line with overall trend, moong and its dal chilka local spurted by Rs 300 each to Rs 4,800-5,500 and Rs 5,300-5,700 per quintal. Its dal dhoya local and best quality enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 5,900-6,400 and Rs 6,400-6,600 per quintal.
Masoor small and bold too ended higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,700-5,900 and Rs 5,750-5,950 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 6,150-6,650 and Rs 6,250-6,750 per quintal.
