Gram pradhan beats elderly couple over trivial issue

An elderly couple was severely beaten up allegedly by the gram pradhan and his family members in Durasi village here over a trival issue, police said today.
Pradhan Ramji Tewari, his two sons and a nephew yesterday barged into the house of Tribhuvan Tewari (80) and his wife Dharma Devi (78) in search of the couple's son, police station incharge of Chauri, OP Rai said.
Pradhan and the couple's son had slipped into a dispute when the latter objected to pradhan's tractor passing through his field, saying that "it was neither a road nor the land of gram samaj", he said.

On not finding the son in the house, pradhan and his three family members beat up the couple brutally. Both the victims have been admitted to hospital in serious condition, he added.
A hunt has been launched to nab Pradhan and his family members who are absconding since the incident took place, Rai said.
