Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Najam Sethi today said that it has hired South African Grant Luden as fielding coach of the national team for a two-year contract.
The signing of Luden, who previously worked with the Bangladesh team, is part of an ongoing drive by the PCB to hire top qualified coaches to work with the team and prepare them for the World Cup in 2015 in Australia and New Zealand.
"We have hired Grant Luden on a two year contract and he will also double as a fitness trainer. We hope the players take full advantage of his expertise and experience," Sethi told the media while visiting the national summer training camp at the Gaddafi stadium.
Luden's appointment comes after the board had tried to sign on Zimbabwe's Richard Halsall but he turned down the offer due to concerns over the uncertainty in the PCB due to the changes in the top post.
The PCB has already hired former captain, Waqar Younis as head coach, Mushtaq Ahmed as the team's spin bowling coach and Zimbabwean, Grant Flower as the batting coach.
Sethi said the board was also close to signing a foreign physiotherapist for the team.
The PCB chief said the board's job was to provide the best possible support staff to the national team players and now it was up to them to take advantage of these facilities.
