The financial crisis in Greece has dented the film industry there, but Greeks haven't given up, says filmmaker Maria D'Souza.
D'Souza is here to attend the 44th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and along with another film personality from Greece Zaferis Epaminodas addressed the audience during a chat session, where they discussed contemporary Greek cinema.
"Contemporary Greek cinema is diversity against adversity. We don't have a film industry as of such as the 70's. The crisis has made it a little worse, but even under such circumstances, we are working it out," D'Souza said.
Several Greek films are being screened at the ongoing festival including 'Just another Confused Elephant', 'Marjoram', 'September', 'The Daughter', 'Wild Duck', 'The Eternal Return of Antonis Paraskevas', 'The Tree and the Swing'.
Epaminodas said that the response to the contemporary Greek films screened at IFFI was great.
"The audience is hungry to see the insights of Greek film making. We are trying to promote and showcase it in the best way we can," Epaminodas said.
