"New green building code 2017 will raise the costs by 5 per cent. But savings in energy can be as high as 50 per cent. The new code could play big role in achieving India's climate goals," a statement quoted Abhay Bakre, Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency, as saying at the CII-EEETech 2017 here.
Bakre, in his address, supported Prime Mister Narendra Modi's clarion call -- Zero Defect, Zero Effect, and said that energy efficiency itself is attractive for any business model.
He added that with the technical conference and programmes like this, the industry gets a chance to identify, deliberate and analyse new technologies/technology providers and latest techniques of energy efficiency which has higher return on investment.
He was of the view that this will not only aid to the pain areas of the industry like higher costs, low profits, negative impact on environment but will also help in imparting knowledge and learning energy efficient solutions.
