Green corridor created for transporting liver for transplant

The liver of a brain dead man was today successfully transplanted in a needy patient at a corporate hospital here after the organ was transported in a record time of three hours from Puducherry by creating a 'green corridor'.
The green corridor was created this moring to transport the liver of the 66-year old man with the help of traffic police and the highway between Madurai and Puducherry, usually congested, was cleared to enable the organ reach here in three hoursinstead of six hours.
The liver was harvested from the brain dead man at 5.15 am at a hospital in Puducherry and brought to the Appolo Hospitals here in three hours where doctors transplanted it in a needy patient, a hospital official said.
Tiruchirappalli and Maduai Traffic officials coordinated with the transport official of the hospital and police personnel were posted at intersections to ensure the green corridor.
