Green corridor from Erode-Cbtore to transport cadaver organ

: A 110 km 'green corridor' was created today from Erode to this city to transport the organs of a brain dead person from that city in just 75 minutes.
The 38-year-old man, riding a two wheeler was admitted to the KMCH hospital at Erode on December 7 after being hit by an autorickshaw. He was declared brain dead yesterday evening.
The Central Transplant Programme of Tamil Nadu Government allotted one kidney to K G Hospital here, being the first in the seniority list.
He was again pronounced brain dead at 1.30 PM today, following which the organ was harvested and readied for transport from KMCH, Erode at 2.45 PM. The organ reached the hospital at 4.00 PM, a release from Dr G Bhaktavathsalam, Chairman, K G Hospital, said .
To transport the organ, a green corridor was created by police, which facilitated smooth passage of the vehicle, through three districts in one hour and 15 minutes, he said.
The transplant was performed on a patient after getting the consent of his family.
