Telangana government today said it has decided to launch a programme to supervise and increase green cover in industrial areas of the state.
Under the programme -- green book system -- one third of space in the industrial areas will be earmarked for planting trees and they will be uploaded online through geo mapping, said Industries, IT, Urban Development and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao.
"The system will enable all industrial units to upload the number of trees planted in their premises through geo mapping. The trees planted in these industrial clusters will be supervised through geo-fencing system and their details would be uploaded online," an official release quoted the Minister as saying.
The industrial areas would be surveyed through photogrammetric method which would help the government to have the complete details of the trees planted. Surveys would be taken up throughout the year, Rao said.
The Minister asked the industries, which had earlier "not bothered" to raise green cover, to take up tree plantations as part of the government's 'Haritha Haram' programme.
Rao, along with government officials, planted saplings in various industrial parks in Medak district today as part of the Haritha Haram programme.
