Groundnut eases on reduced demand

In non-edible segement castorseeds bold and castoroil commerical rose further on increased demand from shippers and soap manufacturers.

Meanwhile, refined palmolein and linseeds oil ruled steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

In futures, castorseeds prices strengthened further on hectic speculative demand amidst sustained export enquiries.

In the edible segment, groundnutoil slipped by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 1,185 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,190. However, refined palmolein closed unchanged at Rs 622 per 10 kg.

Moving to non-edible segment, castorseeds bold spurted by Rs 100 per 100 kg to Rs 3,950 from Rs 3,850 and Castor oil commercial also climbed by Rs 20 to Rs 820 per 10 kg as against Rs 800 previously. Linseed oil held stable at Rs 845 per 10 kg.

Turning to futures, castorseeds for the Sept contract opened higher at Rs 4,230 and surged to end at Rs 4,320 as compared to Rs 4,218 yesterday, showing a net gain of Rs 102 per tonne.
