Groundnut oil recovers on renewed demand

Refined palmolein held steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

While in the non-edible section, castorseeds bold and castor oil commercial declined further on subdued demand from shippers and soap manufacturers.

In futures, castorseeds eased further on speculative selling following lower export enquiries.

In the edible segment, Groundnut oil climbed by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 1,140 from Thursday's closing level of Rs 1,135. However, refined palmolein closed unchanged at Rs 521 per 10 kg.

Turning to non-edible segment, Castorseeds bold slipped by Rs 25 per 100 kg to Rs 3,400 from Rs 3,425 and castor oil commercial edged down by Rs 5 per 10 kg to Rs 710 as against Rs 715 previously. Linseed closed unaltered at Rs 775 per 10 kg.

Moving to futures, castorseed December contract resumed lower at Rs 3,810 and drifted further to Rs 3,750 before settling at Rs 3,806 as compared to Rs 3,841 yesterday, showing a loss of Rs 35 per tonne.
