The youths, from various parts of the country, put the technology to its best use by sharing information, locating stranded people and launched a rescue and relief operation after flying to Kashmir, Salman Nizami, a member of the group said.
A large number of the group members are college students, who carried out rescue operations on a war footing in areas surrounding Rajbagh, Jawahar Nagar, Gogji Bagh and Bemina, Nizami said.
He said their efforts were equally supported by the locals who came together to rescue the stranded.
"We have one person stationed at the airport where telephone network is available. He attends distress calls and make a note of their respective areas. We then go there to rescue them. Information about the safety of rescued people is also being sent out from the airport itself," he said.
"The Air Force also backed us in our efforts and helped in evacuating people where sailing through boats is not possible," he said.
