Group of Keralites say they were cheated by land mafia

Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has assured a group of Keralites from Bangalore that he would take up with the Karnataka Government their complaint that they had been victims of cheating by land mafia in that state.
A delegation, claming to represent as many as 450 Keralites who invested their life-long savings in plots near Bangalore, today said they had been victims of a "land mafia" with influential political and bureaucratic connections who cheated them of their plots by fabricating bogus documents.
Addressing a press meet here, they said the plots were bought by most of them as back as 1994 from a real estate developer. But later some false cases were brought against the developer and those who purchased the plots were evicted.

Tomy Joseph and Aneesh, who were part of the delegation, alleged that though the issue was brought to the Karnataka government's notice through representations there was no action on them.
They claimed Chandy assured them he would write to Karnataka Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah about the issue.
