The Government Railway Police (GRP) is videographing passengers who board at every halt station in long route trains as a preventive security measure.
GRP inspector Pankaj Lavania said that all passengers in every compartment of Gomti, Kashi Vishwanath, Shram Jeevee, Lichhvi, Padmavat, and Faizabad Express trains are being videographed as a preventive security measure on the directions of Superintendent of Police GRP Vaibhav Krishna of Moradabad range.
At Ghaziabad railway station, the police videography teams board the train and go till Moradabad.
On each and every halting station, the teams take videographs of all passengers who board.
Stickers printed with emergency telephone numbers of Moradabad and Director General of Railways control room have also been pasted in all the compartments at conspicuous places so that any passenger can call in case of emergency.
In local EMU and shuttle trains, the GRP and Railway Protection Force staff have launched a regular drive to nab men travelling in ladies' compartments.
This new technique will help police to check crimes in running trains and also identify the offenders by showing the videography to the victim passenger of that particular date and train in case of any mishap, said Lavania.
