GRSE tightens security after ISI agent arrest
Press Trust of India Kolkata Following the arrest of ISI agents, one of whom was working in Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, security has been beefed up at the PSU facility.
"We have tightened security in our premises. We are taking all precautionary measures after the incident," GRSE chairman and managing director Rear Admiral (Rtd) A K Verma told PTI today.
Irshad Ansari, who was arrested by the Special Task Force of the Kolkata Police yesterday, was a contractual labourer of the GRSE.
Asked to comment if the ISI agent was passing on information relating to the yard, he said the investigative agencies were probing the matter.
One of the leading shipyards in India, the GRSE is at present building 15 ships including anti-submarine warfare corvettes and stealth frigates for the Indian Navy. The mini navratna company had also exported a warship last year to Mauritius.
