City-based GSFC University has started imparting training to a team of Tunisian engineers for operation and maintenance of Tunisian Indian Fertilisers (TIFERT) plant based in the African country.

TIFERT is a joint venture between India's leading fertiliser manufacturer Coromandel International Limited, GSFC, and Tunisia's Groupe Chimique Tunisien (GCT) and Compagnie Des Phosphat De Gafsa (CPG).

Coromandel International Limited and GSFC hold 15 per cent stake each in the TIFERT while the GCT and CPG hold the rest.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be $498 million.

"During the detailed training programme, a team of GSFC officers will share their knowledge and experience with visitors in the next 15 days," said A M Tiwari, president of the university and Managing Director of the Gujarat State Fertiliser Company (GSFC) supported by the Gujarat government.
