Addressing a gathering at Dalapchand, Kalimpong, Gurung said that through GTA developments will take place in the hills and the Gorkhaland movement will also be carried forward side by side.
"I have taken this decision after understanding the state government's policies of hindering the Gorkhaland formation by making the GTA unsuccessful," said Gurung who once had thought of resigning from the GTA.
"I had earlier decided to dissolve the GTA and resign. But gradually I understood that the state government was trying to create situations in the hills which would lead both the GTA and the Gorkhaland demand towards failure. So now, I have decided that GTA will not be dissolved, developments will happen and Gorkhaland will also be attained," said Gurung.
"GTA is still young and needs to be made stronger," he said.
Gurung also alleged the CRPF of working as agents for the state government.
"We are carrying forward our demand in a democratic way. There is no need for the CRPF to arrive here and scare us for no reason. If they arrest our party workers, then the public should come out in the streets," Gurung said.
