Guar gum prices were higher by Rs 63 to Rs 8,265 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators expanded their positions amid a firm trend at physical as well as overseas markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar gum for delivery in far-month November was trading higher by Rs 63, or 0.77 per cent, to Rs 8,265 per quintal, showing an open interest of 3,145 lots.
In a similar way, guar gum for delivery in October moved up by Rs 60, or 0.74 per cent, to Rs 8,149 per quintal, with an open interest at 43,935 lots.
Marketmen said widening of positions by participants, triggered by strong trend at domestic and overseas markets, influenced guar gum prices in futures trade.
Besides, increasing export demand too influenced prices, they added.
