Guar seed prices slumped by Rs 76.50 to Rs 4,214 per quintal in futures trading today as traders opted to off-load holdings, tracking a weak trend at the spot markets.
Marketmen said trimming of bets by speculators amid a weak trend at the spot markets on mounting stocks on relentless supplies from growing regions, led the fall in guar seed prices at futures trade here.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guar seed for delivery in March was traidng lower by Rs 76.50 or 1.78 per cent to Rs 4,214 per quintal, having an open interest of 3,480 lots.
The guar seed delivery of the most traded, delivered in April month plunged by Rs 43.50 or 1.02 per cent to Rs 4,220 per quintal, revealing an open interest of 1,36,100 lots.
