A 60-year old man, who worked as a security guard at an ATM, was found dead in his house this morning in North-East Delhi's Gokulpuri area, police said.
According to the police, the incident came to light at around 7:15 AM when the deceased, identified as Sompal, was found lying in a pool of blood in his rented accommodation by his relative and landlord.
Police found Sompal lying dead with his throat slit. A kitchen knife, which probably is the weapon used for killing him, was lying near the body, said a police official.
Police also found Sompal's room ransacked and his wallet, along with the ATM card, missing.
"The deceased had sustained a sharp wound, which was five inch deep on his throat. It seems that the crime took around seven to eight hours back as the blood on the floor had dried up," the official said.
Sompal, a resident of Bagpat, Uttar Pradesh, stayed alone at the rented accommodation. He is survived by his wife and two sons who reside in Noida. A case of robbery and murder has been registered at Gokulpuri police station, police said.
