Guargum prices tumbled by Rs 170 to Rs 6,440 per quintal at the futures trade, dragged down by rising stocks in the spot markets amid muted overseas demand.
Market players said mounting stocks following persistent supplies in physical markets mainly pulled down guargum prices at futures trade.
Besides, slackness in export demand weighted on prices, they added.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guargum for delivery this month fell sharply by Rs 170, or 2.57 per cent, to Rs 6,440 per quintal in an open interest of 15,625 lots.
Also, most-active delivery in January next year was trading down by Rs 170, or 2.53 per cent, to Rs 6,560 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 24,187 lots.
