Guests bash up each other at wedding eve celebrations

The Thane district rural police reported a case of rioting and resultant cross complaints today, during a marriage related function in Vashind.
The police said that a get together of friends and relatives on the eve of a marriage function was organised at Vashind for the marriage of the sister of one Dolly.
Friends and relatives had gathered and dancing to the tune of music on Saturday night, when a rival group of villagers reached the venue, since both the groups had been invited for the function by members of the bride's family.
The police said that a quarrel arose while dancing when the two groups of villagers began attacking each other with leathal weapons.
The entire situation turned out to be a battleground, the police said.
In the fight, at least three people were injured, the police said adding that half a dozen people -- three from each group has been been arrested.

Both the groups have lodged cross complaints accusing each other for the violence.
The police said that in the first case there were as many as 20 accused, while in the second case, a total of about half a dozen were named.
The complainant in the first case is one Sagar Kirpan aged 19 years and in the other, the complainant is Vijay Kathore aged 43, the police said.
Offences under Sections 143, 147, 148, 323, 324, 427, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered for rioting, the police said.
