"Preparation for polling on 230 booths is complete and 3 battalion each of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) will be deployed along with local police to ensure peaceful conduction of the by-election on May 16," Gir Somnath Collector and Returning Officer Ajay Kumar said today.
According to the officer, there are around two lakh voters in the constituency.
The by-election was necessitated following the death of sitting Congress MLA Jasu Barad in January.
The by-poll will see a direct fight between Congress and BJP.

This will be the second face-off between Bhawanji Barad and Parmar as they had contested against each other in same seat in the 2007 Assembly polls which Bhagwanji had won.
Jasu Barad had defeated Parmar in 2012 Assembly polls with a thin margin.
