Guj CM sanctions Rs 454 crore for civic works

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel today sanctioned Rs 454 crore for various development works in Ahmedabad and Jamnagar cities as well as Ankaleswar and Khambhat towns in the state.
"Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has sanctioned urban development related works to the tune of Rs 454.50 crore in the interest of public in major cities and towns of Gujarat," a statement from the state Information Department said.
Patel sanctioned Rs 150 crore for Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to carry out dewatering works to avoid water-logging during monsoon, it said.
Besides, she also allocated Rs 95 crore to set up a new head regulator of 500 MLD capacity and to lay pipelines and pumping machinery at Kotarpur water treatment plant on the city outskirts to provide water from Sardar Sarovar Narmada scheme to the citizens here, the statement said.
The Chief Minister also decided to give the second instalment of Rs 20 crore to Jamnagar Municipal Corporation from the total sanctioned amount of Rs 116.56 crore for laying drainage lines in the city, it said.
She also cleared Rs 34.50 crore for the construction of a railway over bridge (Rs 28 crore) and an underpass (Rs 6.50 crore), it said.
Rs 155 crore were also sanctioned for the construction of a railway over-bridge in the municipalities like Ankaleshwar and Khambhat and also allocated Rs 10 crore for the pavement, footpath works and provide pure drinking water in these cities, the statement said.
Civic body elections are likely to be held across Gujarat in July or August.
