To reach out to the people ahead of the next general elections due in April-May as envisaged by party vice president Rahul Gandhi, Congress has decided to hold week-long 'padyatra' in all Lok Sabha constituencies before the announcement of the poll schedule.
Based on the directives given by their leader, state Congress will kick start their seven-day 'padyatra' campaign from tomorrow.
"During the campaign, our leaders will address people living in more than 1,000 villages of all the 26 constituencies with a population of around 2,000. We will organise 2,600 group meetings during the padyatra, which comes to 100 meetings per seat," said Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi.
On March 11, the padyatra campaign will end with a public rally to be addressed by Rahul Gandhi in Balasinor.
