Five persons, all relatives, drowned on Tuesday in Keri river in Bhavnagar district of Gujarat, police said.
The incident occurred at Juna Ratanpar village in Vallabhipur taluka in afternoon after a group of eight persons entered the water for bathing, a Vallabhipur police station official said.
He said three persons were saved by villagers who rushed to the spot after an alarm was raised.
The bodies of all the five were fished out of water and sent for postmortem, he added.
The deceased are identified as Girdharbhai Solanki (45), Gopalbhai Solanki (18), Maheshbhai Solanki (17), Nishaben Solanki (13), and Bhavnaben Solanki (18).
