The petition filed by Chirag Dave, an aspiring candidate, was rejected by a division bench of Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy and Justice V M Pancholi.
The judges said they won't interfere in this matter.
Dave had said that general category students need a minimum of 45 per cent marks in class 12 to qualify for engineering colleges, while the reserved category students need 40 per cent marks.
Because of this, around 28,000 engineering seats remain vacant across the state every year, he said, and sought the court's direction to the state government and the All India Council for Technical Education to relax the minimum score needed for the general category to fill up these seats.
