"Starting from tomorrow, on the day of 'Vijya Dashami', we will embark upon the countdown of the state Assembly elections and will put our maximum efforts to keep the positive momentum running for the party," state unit Congress president Arjun Modhwadia said here.
He, along with incharge of state Congress affairs Mohan Prakash, today announced a schedule of six "people's conventions" to be organised in coming fortnight.
They were speaking at the party meeting of presidents of district committees and panchayats and corporation leaders.
While the first gathering will be held at Rajpara Village in Bhavnagar district, next one will be organised on October 31 in Surat and on November 2 in Vadodara. Conventions in Ahmedabad, Junagadh and Jamnagar will be held on November 5, 6 and 7 respectively, they added.
Modhwadia and Prakash asked their party leaders to form booth-level committees in their respective districts by month-end and utilise them during the conventions to "energise not only the cadres but common people too", for the upcoming elections.
The cadres were also told to highlight "failures" of Modi government.
