Six labourers were injured on Monday when the slab of an under-construction pumping station on which they were working caved in in Nikol area in Ahmedabad, police said.
The incident occurred when concrete was being laid on the top of the structure, a police officer said.
"Six labourers were injured after the slab of an under-construction pumping station for water supply caved in. They were laying concrete on top of the structure when it came down three floors down," said DCP (Zone-V) Akshayraj Makwana.
All the six labourers who got trapped under the debris were rescued by fire department personnel, officials said.
"A team of around 30 fire personnel rushed to the site and carried out a rescue operation, wherein six labourers were pulled out of the debris and taken to civil hospital," said M F Dastoor, Chief Fire Officer, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
Rescue operation is over as all the trapped labourers are extricated from the rubble.
