"The monkeys, about 150 in number, could not leave the banyan tree as it was surrounded by flood water and remained trapped there for two days, without food and water," said village Sarpanch Hargovind Bhai.
After they came to know about the plight of simians, villagers made a temporary bridge using two ropes and wooden pieces.
"Some swimmers waded into the water and gave support to the makeshift bridge. They also made the monkeys come down from the branches," said Mukesh Patel, a local.
