Gujarat: 3 Food and Drug dept officials caught by ACB

In two separate operations today, the state Anti Corruption Bureau caught three officials of the Food and Drug department for suspected bribery.
The arrested officials were identified as senior drug inspector (class-2) and in-charge assistant commissioner K K Goswami, junior clerk Rohit Chauhan, and his wife Dipika Chauhan who works as deputy commissioner in the same department in Gandhinagar.
ACB had received a tip-off that these officials took bribes regularly, and carried the cash on their way back home from their Gandhinagar offices.
Inspector A A Shaikh intercepted Goswami this evening when he was leaving for his home in a car and found Rs 60,685 in his possession.
Goswami failed to explain the source of the money, an ACB release here said, therefore he was arrested for acquiring money through corrupt practises.
In the second operation, inspector G D Palsana of ACB caught Rohit and Dipika Chauhan outside their offices in the state capital today, and seized 45,420 and Rs 30,128, respectively, from them.
