Gujarat Assembly adjourned for a day after condolence meet

The Gujarat Assembly was adjourned for the day today after paying tributes to people who died during the floods, two former MLAs and a former Governor who passed away recently.
The monsoon session of the two-day Gujarat Assembly began today.
The Assembly met at Mahatma Mandir here as a special arrangement because the Assembly complex is under renovation.
As soon as the House proceedings began, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani read a resolution to condole the death of former Governor Naresh Chandra Saxena, former MLAs Badiyabhai Gondia and Shantaben Chavda, and people who lost their lives during the recent floods in different parts of the state, with the districts of Banaskantha and Patan being the worst affected.

Speaker Ramanlal Vora, minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and opposition leader Mohansinh Rathwa supported the resolution as members offered their condolences.
The Assembly will meet tomorrow when four government bills are expected to be tabled in the House.
These Bills include Gujarat Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill, Gujarat Single Window Clearance Bill, Gujarat Agricultural Land Ceiling (Amendment) Bill and a Bill to amend the Gujarat Urban Land (Ceiling and Regulation) Act of 1976.
More than 220 people died due to the heavy rains and floods in different parts of the state, with over 70 deaths reported from Banaskantha and Patan alone.
