ATS team arrested Gul Mohammad Jargar (62) from his house in Bijbehra village of Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir and brought him here today.
Jargar was on ATS's radar for many years as several drug peddlers had told the police that he provided them with Charas and other narcotic substances.
According to ATS, Jargar was a constable with CRPF and had served in many parts of the country in the 70s. After four years with CRPF, he left and joined the J&K police as a constable.
"Though he had quit his CRPF job, he wore the uniform while trafficking Charas in Gujarat. He established a network of drug peddlers and dealers in Gujarat and made crores of rupees between 1984 and 2005," said Assistant Commissioner of Police, ATS, K K Patel.

He also funded several terrorists who were active in Gujarat, helping them acquire weapons, explosives, etc. The money was also used to run terror training programs, ATS claimed.
He was allegedly also involved in the landing of a huge cache of arms in Gujarat during 1995 and 1999.
