Gujarat: Death toll due to rains climbs to 11

The death toll due to rains across Gujarat has risen to 11 as two more persons died during the last 24 hours, officials of the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) said.
While relief operations are still on in some parts of Jamnagar district, rain lashed several parts of the state, especially southern part, during the last 24 hours.
"With two more deaths during this period, death toll has reached 11. Rescue operations are on in some parts of Jamnagar, as several persons are still stranded in flood waters," they said.
The Meteorological Centre here today predicted that light to moderate rains would continue in several parts of state during the next two days.
During the last 24 hours, Umergam and Kaprada taluka of Valsad district received highest rainfall with 99 mm and 98 mm respectively.
They were followed by Mandvi in Kutch (94mm), Morva Hadaf in Panchmahal (83mm), Valsad taluka (69mm), Bavla of Ahmedabad (65mm), Abdasa of Kutch (57mm), Khergam of Navsari(51mm) and Gandevi of Navsari (50mm).
Earlier yesterday, state government has announced that nine persons have died and over 400 people rescued by the National Disaster Response Force and the Indian Air Force as heavy rains pounded many parts of Gujarat on Friday and Saturday.
