Himachal Pradesh has been adjudged the best state in "Health & Investment" sectors in the category of big states.
Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh presented the awards at a function here today.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy received the award for 'Best Governance' while Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh received the honour for his state for being the best in health and investment.
Gujarat's Resident Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Narmada and Water Resources) Ashim Khurana received the award for macro economy on behalf of his state.

Andhra Pradesh bagged the award for 'best governance' as a result of its innovative schemes conceived and implemented by Kiran Reddy.
Participating in the debate on governance, Kiran Kumar Reddy pointed out that his government conceived schemes such as Mee Seva, Raji Yuva Kiranalu and others with an aim to better the lifestyles of people, to empower them and also to make them skilled.
Himachal Pradesh outperformed in Health & Investment sector among big states of the country during last one year and registered a 30 per cent rise in the number of registered doctors in comparison to 10 pc rise in other states. Its female infanticide ratio has come down to 39 per thousand from 47 per thousand during last one year.
The State of the States Report is an annual exercise of the group which gathers the data from all the states in India, and analysed by eminent economists.
