During his speech in the Gujarat Assembly today on the motion to discuss the Governor's address, Rupani claimed that Congress leaders are unable to digest the fact that even the United States has accepted that Gujarat is surging ahead in development.
Rupani's speech was a reply to Leader of Opposition Shankersinh Vaghela, who had earlier taken taken strong objection to Gujarat being called 'India's Growth Engine'. Vaghela had also told the Gujarat Assembly that the state lags behind many states and nothing has been achieved through Vibrant Summits.
"Besides billions of dollars of investments, these Vibrant Summits created millions of job opportunities here. Dignitaries like US president as well as the UN Secretary General praised our growth story, but it is unfortunate that the Congress couldn't see it and tries to undermine these achievements," Rupani said.
"Rahul Gandhi is missing in action. No one knows where has he gone and when will he back. I am also amazed that the Congress expressed happiness after losing Delhi elections, just because the BJP also lost. The fact is that our vote share has not decreased, while the Congress share diminished to just nine per cent," Rupani said.
