"BCI has given the protest call and we have fully endorsed it. We have appealed to every member of the Bar Council of Gujarat (BCG) to join and make it a grand success," said BCG Chairman, Dilip Patel.

BCG, a body of more then 50,000 lawyers registered with it, has alleged that the provision for inclusion of legal education in the bill "usurps" the powers of the regulatory body for legal education.

"BCI has passed a resolution asking every lawyer of the nation to observe protests on 11 and 12 July, by staying away from work in support of the demand to withdraw this bill and we have endorsed it," said Patel.

He also said that every bar association of the state have supported the call and they will boycott proceedings in each and every court for two days starting tomorrow.

Gujarat High Court Advocates' Association (GHCAA) has also given a call of protest asking the advocates, including Advocate General, Government Pleader, Assistant GPs not to attend the proceedings.

"We have passed a resolution supporting the protest call given by BCI and tomorrow we will appeal every advocates not to take part in proceedings in HC," GHCAA president Vijay Patel said.
