Gujarat police are all set to get a 'Cyber Suraksha Kavach', a special cell for prevention, control and detection of the cyber-related crime in the state, tomorrow when Chief Minister Anandi Patel will formally inaugurate it in Gandhinagar.
Police officers will be trained under the aegis of the cell, which will help them solve cyber-related cases more efficiently.
"Chief Minister Anandiben Patel will inaugurate the cell and its website as 'Cyber Suraksha Kavach' tomorrow on the first day of the All India Police Science Congress at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar," ADGP, State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB), Sanjay Shrivastava said, adding that training will be provided to officials.
He said a 'Digital Skills Academy' will be initiated, which will be governed by the state Home Department.
"The body (cell) will provide training and certification course to our police officers for the first time in India," the officer said, adding the course will be completed in three years.
Police and experts in the field of cyber security will work together in this cell, which will be headed by an ADG-rank officer, said Shrivastava who will be heading it.
The first-of-its-kind of body will take assistance from Gujarat forensic Science University (GFSU), he said.
