"We demand adequate time slot to Gojri language, proportionate to their population in the state," said Javaid Rahi, Secretary of Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation.

He also alleged improper representation of the language in daily broadcasts on various channels being aired in the state.

Rahi also expressed anguish over Doordarshan not telecasting "even a single daily programme" in Gojri.

Terming Gojri as one of the significant languages of India, Rahi noted the language needs special attention and encouragement from Central government.

Seeking proper representation for Gujjars and Bakerwals, Rahi said the Gojri-speaking communities constitute more than 20 per cent population of the state.
