"This event is open to riders from all over India. The first flag-off was held in 88 (1988) and we are continuing. It is very rare that you have a scooter rally exclusive; you will have bike things and all that. It is a different challenge, when you have a bike it is different thing altogether," Srikant Karani, founder, Sportscraft told reporters.
"We have received entries from Nashik, Pune, Thane, New Bombay (Mumbai), Bhopal, Mumbai and Rajasthan and also from Banglore (Bengaluru) which have not come, but they have confirmed on the phone from TVS. We have last year's winner Shamim Khan for Mahindra and Mahindra's.
"There are 40 entries in the pipeline, (of which) 25 are confirmed with all the paper work. We are expecting about 45 to 50 (participants) because entries closed on the 5th (July)," he added.
Karani described the event as "it is more like a cross-country, endure, super-cross, moto-cross, everything rolled in one (and) it is quite challenging."
The start is at 9 am and the finish is at K-Star hotel in Navi Mumbai, it added.
Amit Gheji, Category Manager, Personal Mobility (GOLIL) was present for the media conference.
