Gunderipallam reservoir overflowing

Flood alert was today sounded in five villages in Gobichettipalayam area due to water overflowing from the Gunderipallam reservoir, officials said.
The Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve forest area received very heavy rain on Tuesday midnight and early today.
Till 8 a.M. On Wednesday, 140 mm of rain was recorded in Gunderipallam reservoir, PWD officials said.
Further there was very heavy rain in Kadambur, Kundry, Injikizangu and Makkampalayam forest areas. All the rain water entered the reservoir and the dam was filled.
Officials said the surplus water was discharged into a canal following which flood alert was sounded in Kongarpalayam, Vaniputhur, Vinobanagar, Goundenpalayam and Arakkankottai villages and also in some other areas.

Officials said this is the second time this year the reservoir was overflowing.
