Gunrunning racket busted, 3 arrested in Delhi

Delhi Police today claimed to have busted an alleged inter-state gunrunning racket with the arrest of three persons and recovery of 10 semi-automatic pistols, 17 magazines and 19 live cartridges from them.
During a special drive the capital on Thursday, a team of Special Staff of South East district police arrested Faiyaz Ray (25), a resident of Bihar's West Champaran, and Chand Babu (29) and Mohd Nazru, both residents of Bulandshahar, UP.
"The gang members used to procure these sophisticated weapons from Munger, Bihar and sold them to criminal elements in Delhi and NCR. A cache of nine semi-automatic pistols, one .38 bore revolver, 17 magazines along with 19 live cartridges have been recovered from their possession,"Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Mandeep Singh Randhawa said.
The consignment was to be supplied to criminals in Delhi and NCR, he said.
Police had received a specific input about the delivery of a large consignment of illegal firearms at Okhla Mandi.
"A trap was laid... Three suspicious persons holding a bag was spotted on Captain Gaur Marg, Near Canara Bank who were waiting for someone.

"They were apprehended and identified as Chand Babu, Faiyaz and Mohd Nazru and the weapons were recovered from them," he said.
Accordingly, a case under the Arms Act has been registered at Amar Colony police station. During probe, involvement of a Munger-based illegal arms manufacturer and a supplier has been revealed. They were supplying the illegal firearms to their contacts in Delhi and NCR through Faiyaz and Chand Babu.
Police said Mohd. Nazru, the leader of the gang, has been involved in the trade for the past 10 years.
