Gur ends higher on local buying, tight supply

Gur prices firmed up to Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale Jaggery market today on increased buying by local parties against tight supplies and negligible arrivals from producing areas.
At Delhi, gur pedi rose to Rs 2,850-2,900 from previous level of Rs 2,750-2850, while dhayya and shakkar shot up by Rs 200 each to Rs 3,000-3,100 and Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal, respectively.
Marketmen said tight supplies following negligible arrivals from producing regions against increased buying by local parties mainly led to rise in gur prices.
The following are today's quotations per quintal:
Gur chakku 2,700-2,800, pedi 2,850-2,900, dhayya 3,000-3,100 and shakkar 3,200-3,300.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,300-2,350, chakku 2,450-2,700 khurpa 2,400-2,450 and Ladoo 2,550-2,750.
Muradnagar: Pedi 2,400-2,450 and dhayya 2,450-2,500.
