Gur ends higher on pick-up in demand

Gur prices edged higher at the wholesale Jaggery market today on pick-up in demand from stockists and local parties against limited arrivals from producing areas.
Marketmen said pick-up in demand driven by winter season amid lower arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in gur prices.
At Delhi, gur pedi and dhayya ended higher at Rs 2,525-2,625 and Rs 2,725-2,825 per quintal, respectively. Shakkar also moved up by Rs 50 to Rs 2,750-2,850 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,500-2,600, pedi Rs 2,525-2,625, dhayya Rs 2,725-2,825 and shakkar Rs 2,750-2,850.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,400-2,500, chakku Rs 2,200-2,450, khurpa Rs 2,200-2,300 and Ladoo Rs 2,300-2,500.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,150-2,200 and dhayya Rs 2,200-2,250.
